Lengyel vagyok: Budapeszt Wita! / Budapest Welcomes me!

Przyleciałam do Budapesztu około 18 i spotkałam Panią, z którą rozmawiałam do tej pory tylko przez telefon. Później spotkałam następne kilka osób z mojego programu, w tym jedna Kasia, i zostaliśmy wsunięci do autobusiku, który nas zawiózł prosto do naszego hostelu. Jadąc tym busikiem miałam pierwsze wrażenia Budapesztu: miasto jak każde inne w Europie, tylko że żadnego słowa nie rozumiem…nic, nawet nie było opcji żeby się domyśleć co jakiś napis mógł oznaczać bo tyle było różnych liter i tyle liter razem w jednym słowie że nie mogłam się ogarnąć wystarczająco szybko żeby pomyśleć o tym co to słowo mogło oznaczać. Na szczęście szybko wjechaliśmy do małej uliczki i autobusik stanął przed małym placykiem gdzie okazało się nasz hostel był. Przed hostelem spotkały nas dwie dziewczyny, które już są w tym programie, jedna od roku a druga od aż 8 lat! Poszliśmy na górę do hostelu i zostawiłyśmy rzeczy w pokojach. Niedługo po tym, spotkałam się z Liz, moją koleżanką, z którą będę uczyła i mieszkała. Zgarnęliśmy kilka osób i poszliśmy na obiad na małym placyku przed naszym hostelem. I w tym momencie przypomnieliśmy sobie, że tak naprawdę nikt nie umie mówić po węgiersku i zamawianie jedzenie będzie zabawą. Na szczęście koleżanka Kasia wiedziała jak zamówić picie i troszkę jedzenia, oraz poprosić o rachunek. Wiec po zjedzeniu miłego obiadu wróciliśmy do hostelu i spotkaliśmy się z innymi ludźmi, w tym jeszcze jedna Kasia, i poszliśmy do baru w hostelu żeby się wspólnie napić czegoś. Po rozmawianiu z moimi nowymi współpracownikami, powiedziałam dobranoc i poszłam spać, żeby być gotowa poznawać to nowe miasto następnego dnia.

I arrived in Budapest around 6 pm and I met the woman with whom I had been speaking with only through Skype up until this point. I then met a few other people from my program, one of them another Kate, and we were packed into a small bus and shipped straight to our hostel. This bus ride was my first look at Budapest, my new home and well it seemed like any other town in Europe, except I don't understand a word...nothing, not even the smallest word made sense, not to mention that most words were made up of so many letters and so many unknown letters that before I had time to grasp what my eyes were seeing the word was gone and I was just as confused as before. Luckily, before I got too lost our bus turned into a small street and we stopped in a small square, where it turned out our hostel was located on. In front of the hostel there were two girls who greeted us, one who had been working here for a year and the other who has been here for 8 years! After we let our bags in our rooms I met up with Liz, a friend of mine who I will be working and living with during my year, we met up with some more people and went out to dinner in the little square. As we sat down, we quickly remembered that no one spoke Hungarian and this dinner conversation with out waiter would be fun. Luckily the other Kate knew how to somewhat order food and drinks, as well as ask for the check, which made dinner a little easier and more enjoyable. After dinner we went back to the hostel to meet up with some other new co-workers, one of them a third Kate, and we went to the bar in the hostel to have a drink and to get to know one another. After a while, I said goodnight and went to bed, so I could get ready to explore this new city the next day.
